As a Christian, this has been my question. Everyone around me has a field of choice already engraved in stone. Cardio-thoracic surgery, Neurosurgery in the States, Gynaecology in Australia...
Even summer practice is planned for great places. I'm not against this, but I feel Medicine is a GREAT tool in propagating the Gospel. If all our plans revolve around our dreams only, it would instead be seen as an end in itself. There are wonderful mission groups for students and young doctors that affords the opportunity to serve God with our Profession. When we graduate, and before we graduate, we should earnestly seek the face of God for directions in life.
